Web Hosting Bandwidth Calculator

How much bandwidth will your web site really need? The numbers on hosting plans tend to be large nowadays, but if you are wondering how much traffic you will actually use, here's a tool to make your estimations easy.

You can enter the size of a typical web page (or a typical visit) on your site, or you can have this checked automatically by providing a URL or a file.

Choose a duration, such as hourly or daily, and estimate how many hits (or visits, if you prefer) your site will receive during that time. Then use the resulting bandwidth estimate to help you in finding the right host for your needs.

Having plenty of bandwidth is a good thing, but uptime and quality service are even more important, and traffic allowances are often subject to usage limits in other forms. Confronted with a list of big numbers (GB, TB, Unlimited), many people don't realize how these relate to the requirements of the typical web hosting customer. Knowing your traffic needs, you can make a more informed hosting decision.

The bandwidth calculator is freeware, a 1.36 MB download for Windows computers.
